BIOCERAMIC ROOT CANAL SEALER
Bioceramic Root Canal Sealer – High Biocompatibility and Long-Term Stability
This advanced bioceramic root canal sealer is formulated with a powder phase primarily composed of tricalcium silicate, dicalcium silicate, silicon oxide, and zirconium oxide, offering excellent biocompatibility, antibacterial properties, and bioactivity. The liquid component contains bidistilled water, calcium chloride, and a hydrophilic plasticizing agent (water-soluble polymer), facilitating a smooth and consistent mix.
Thanks to its superior physicochemical properties, this sealer hardens effectively even in the presence of moisture, blood, or tissue fluids. It is dimensionally stable, with a slight expansion upon setting to guarantee an optimal sealing of the root canal. Once hardened, the material remains compact, durable, and insoluble over time, ensuring long-lasting performance.
During preparation, the powder-liquid mix reaches a high alkaline pH (~12) due to the release of calcium hydroxide and oxydryl radicals from tricalcium silicate hydration. When in contact with tissue fluids during the setting process, the released calcium ions react with phosphate ions and phosphatase enzymes, promoting the formation of calcium phosphate, specifically hydroxyapatite — a key component in the regeneration of mineralized tissue.
